MFJ 1793 Tri-Band HF Vertical Antennas
MFJ 1793 Tri-Band HF Vertical Antennas operate as a full quarter wave on 40 and 20-meters, and a top loaded 1/8 wavelength antenna on 80-meters. When used with a good ground system, the MFJ 1793 has excellent efficiency and bandwidth on 40 and 20-meters. On 80-meters, the antenna is a very efficient top loaded antenna.
When electrically shortening an antenna, top loading is the most efficient method known. MFJ 1793s are top loaded with a coil that is wound on a fiberglass core with high-quality, Teflon®-coated wire. These antennas also employ a top mounted, large-diameter capacitance hat to aid in 80-meter bandwidth.
MFJ 1793s have a swivel base to allow for easy mounting and access to the top for tuning the 80-meter band. The swivel base is constructed with heavy duty aluminum plate and a large-diameter, super-strong, solid fiberglass insulator. MFJ 1793s come supplied with U-bolts for use with 1.5 in. maximum-diameter masts. The antenna may also be mounted on an optional 2.0 in. maximum-diameter mast with user-supplied U-bolts.
